My Longest Prayer

The Lord is on my side, and I am not afraid of what others can do to me. With the Lord on my side, I will defeat all my hateful enemies. From the tents of God’s people come shouts of victory: The Lord is powerful! With His mighty arm the Lord wins victories! The Lord is powerful. Psalm 118:6-7, 15-16.

Two days before the board exams during the last part of our Auditing Theories pre-week lecture, Sir George James shared his story of the board. He gave us to do’s and not to do’s before, during and after the exams.
For example, take ample rest after the pre-week. That’s two days of resting and reflecting on what you have learned during the entire review season. Eat a heavy breakfast before the exams and as much as possible be as early as you can in the examination room.

In answering, be careful in shading the choices. You might go on shading the right answer for the wrong number. Shade by batch; say five questions at a time.

After the exam avoid listening to, “My answer in number two is a.” “No it’s b.” “It’s a, I have read that in Valix.” stories. Don’t feel sorry for your self for the mistakes you have obviously committed. It will suck your energy to below minimum.

Before we finally end the lecture with a prayer he shared one last story. He said he prayed before and while taking the exams. Page after page, he thank God, complain to God, ask God what’s the answer is, skip questions asking God to remind him they skipped something in page two, reviews his answers confirming to God and so on. It’s like taking the exams with God on his side, physically.

“That seven-subject, four-day, CPA board exams is the longest prayer I have ever made in my entire life!” he comments smiling to the class. “And I encourage you to do the same.”

We formally end our Auditing Theories review in prayer and blessing.

That’s his story.

This is my blog.

I’ll tell you mine. Please keep on reading.

I followed the to do’s and not to do’s they shared during the pre-week. I relaxed a lot. I even watched “The Departed” with Shiela, Friday afternoon after checking my room at CCP (Central Colleges of the Philippines).

In answering, I focused on the problem requirement and not to the wordy of the question. I shade in batches.

After the first day, I watched Six Cycle Mind mall tour in SM Sta. Mesa. They play cuts from their new album. I jumped and shouted a lot of “Rock on!” I go home tired. I slept early to prepare for day two.

But this is the craziest thing I did during my four day exams. If Sir James did pray page-after-page, I prayed question-after-question.

I did the same thing, I thank God, I complain to God, I ask God what’s the answer in number seven, I skipped number twenty asking God to remind me we skipped a question on second page, I review my answer confirming to God and so on. It’s like taking the exams with God on my side, physically.

I never felt so much secured, fulfilled and happy after that four-day, seven-subject board exams. But that’s not the first time I did it. I often talked to God, whispering short prayers all the time. Talking to him as if He is with me all the time is like natural to me. Yes, believe it or not.

True enough, with the Lord on our side we’ll be victorious. Because the Lord is powerful; and with His mighty arm the Lord wins victories! (Psalm 118:16)

Did I pass the board?

No, WE passed it. I took it with Him. It’s like going thru something with Him before me, physically.

My life has been my longest prayer.

In HIM,

Jobie P. Doblado

P.S.1

I encourage you to live your life in prayer. It is as if God is always with you all the time, physically.

P.S.2

I’m human I do some sinful stuff sometimes. But whispering short prayers is natural to me that I even pray for forgiveness right after I sin. Call me crazy, but I do.

P.S.3

This is my first letter to the world. Hope you enjoyed reading. Expect more, because I’ll post more.
